Hi there - my name’s Sam. I’m a filmmaker based in NYC.
I work across narrative, documentary, and experimental formats. I’m up for any filmmaking challenge, though I find myself particularly drawn to collaborative projects, travel jobs, observational documentaries, music-driven work, and films that explore the formation of American identity and/or masculinity.
I directed the documentary feature Red, White & Wasted about a family in Florida deep in the subculture of mudding. The film premiered at Tribeca and played at Big Sky, the American Film Festival, New Orleans, Cucalorus, and a number of other fests before being acquired and released by Dark Star Pictures.
As a director, I’ve collaborated with artists (Josh Kline, Zain Alam) and musicians (Kalifa/Le1f, Yung Jake, DonChristian) to create short-form work that straddles the line between film and art.
As a DP, I’ve shot a pair of narrative features and all kinds of commercial projects, documentaries, shorts, and music videos. I own a Canon C300 Mark III along with a lighting package and sound kit that are well suited for documentary and branded content projects.
Right now I’m shooting commercial and documentary projects for other filmmakers, bringing my short doc Bent to festivals, and developing my first narrative feature as a writer/director.
