Hi there - my name’s Sam. I’m a filmmaker based in NYC.

I work across narrative and documentary formats to explore the tensions inherent in race, class, and masculinity in America.

I directed the documentary feature Red, White & Wasted about a family in Florida deep in the subculture of mudding. The film premiered at Tribeca and played at Big Sky, the American Film Festival, New Orleans, Cucalorus, and a number of other fests before being acquired and released by Dark Star Pictures.

As a director, I’ve collaborated with visual artists (Josh Kline, Mimi Bai) and musicians (Kalifa/Le1f, Yung Jake, DonChristian) to create short-form work that blurs the line between film and art.

As a DP, I’ve shot a pair of narrative features and all kinds of commercial projects, documentaries, shorts, and music videos. I own a Canon C300 Mark III along with a lighting package and sound kit that are well suited for documentary and branded content projects.

Right now I’m collaborating with Zain Alam on a 3-channel audio/video installation project called Meter & Light, and shooting documentary and commercial work while developing my first narrative feature as a writer/director.
